Veterinary Dental Scalers

VDS Veterinary Dental Hand Scalers

Scalers are used to remove calculus and tartar from the crown of the tooth. pod veterinary dental scalers are specifically designed for companion animal teeth with a curved sickle scaler on one end and a straight scaler on the other end. The curved sickle scaler end has a cutting blade at the top on each side and is designed for interproximal spaces and areas with tight contact spaces. The straight end allows removal of deposits from the buccal and lingual sides of the crown. Each blade is dual sided which allows the instrument to be used on both the buccal and mesial surfaces of teeth, however, care is required to avoid damaging soft tissue with the scaler blades. Standard and miniature sizes are available, with the miniature size providing excellent removal of deposits in overlapping areas, tight spaces and along the developmental grooves.

Hand crafted in New Zealand, pod dental scalers are quality instruments provided with a five year manufacturer’s guarantee and responsibly manufactured through a unique recycling programme. The blades are made from surgical quality stainless steel to facilitate precise and effortless cleaning while the ergonomic handles are made from recycled stainless steel. This recycled stainless steel is sourced from old instruments and we welcome you to help us to care for our environment by sending us your old instruments.

How To Use Your pod Scaler

Position the scaler so that 1/3rd of the blade is positioned under the deposit. Adjust position so that the blade is at an angle of approximately 85 degrees to the tooth surface. Apply lateral pressure and firmly pull the instrument upwards to dislodge deposits. Take care not to damage soft tissue as the scaler has blades on both sides. The dual bladed sides allow the instrument to be used on both mesial and distal aspects of the tooth.
