pod Miniature Scaler

Please log in to order

The pod miniature scaler has been designed to access where larger scaler blades will not fit. It is particularly useful in removing debris and staining from developmental grooves.

The pod veterinary scaler has two different shaped ends, a curved sickle scaler and a flat scaler. The curved sickle scaler has a cutting blade at the top on each side and it requires care not to damage soft tissue. The curved end is specifically designed to remove deposits from interproximal spaces. The miniature scaler is excellent for removing deposits in overlapping areas, tight spaces and along the developmental grooves. The flat scaler end is excellent for the broad supragingival buccal and lingual surfaces of teeth. Position the scaler so that 1/3rd of the blade is positioned under the deposit. Adjust position so that the blade is at an angle of approximately 85 degrees to the tooth surface. Apply lateral pressure and firmly pull the instrument upwards to dislodge deposits. Take care not to damage soft tissue as the scaler has blades on both sides. The dual bladed sides allow the instrument to be used on both mesial and distal aspects of the tooth.

pod scalers and curettes are used for cleaning debris from the crown and root of teeth. Some curettes are also useful for smoothing bone after extraction. There is a degree of skill and understanding required for their successful use. Each instrument has been hand crafted to compliment your skills. The guide pictured shows how to use pod scalers and curettes correctly.

Remember that pod Instruments will recycle your old instruments. When you send us your old dental or surgical instruments the stainless steel is recycled and used to make the handles of brand new pod veterinary dental instruments. Help us by acting responsibly to care for our environment.
